Ringworm - What To Do

A person can get ringworm as a result of several things.  Direct contact with another person or animal already infected can cause an outbreak.  It can also be spread via bedding, clothing or other textile materials that is infected and it can be spread through just plain dirt.  Sometimes it is a little challenging to determine the origin of
an infection because the symptoms remain dormant for ten days after contact.  A person with the condition should be seen by a doctor so that a proper diagnosis can be made and the correct medication prescribed.  Anti fungal cream is a very effective treatment if it is applied correctly.  The cream should be applied twice per day and covered with a bandage or clothing of some type to prevent scratching.  The treatment should be continued until the rash is completely gone.  In addition to treating the infected individual all bedding, clothing and any fabric that came in contact with the rash should be washed with lots of hot water and bleach.  Do this and ringworm infections can be controlled.
